Last Tuesday's CBC results continue to show increase. Platelets reached 94,000 and hemoglobin is almost in the normal range at 12,000. We're praying everyday and God is showing His grace every visit through the sustaining of His healing power. We have nothing more than be thankful to Him for registering all of your prayers and funneling it down to Ensay's body to display His mighty response. Ensay has also started his 11th grade last Thursday and it's really great to see his high spirit and physically in a significantly stronger situation than a few months ago towards the end of last year. The doctor also gave him an OK to play water polo (although he should gradually increase the intensity of his involvement) so even though he had not made up his mind yet on joining the school's water polo team, he is ready to get involved in other regular sports. What a night and day difference it is from just a few months back when many things were uncertain. On Thursday morning I had another chance to engrave a moment which will stay with me life long: Ensay once again put on his backpack, wore his helmet and drove off to school on his bike. As such a scene plain as that becomes so precious is because at one point I wasn't sure if such a plain scene would ever enter into my life again. So, really nothing is just plain in life; and "taking nothing for granted and counting our blessings" has been a theme around this family.
The other day when mom was giving a ride, Renee shared a very insightful thought. She said that when Ensay's health situation deteriorated it was difficult for her and the whole family to cope with the situation. However as time went on she realized that our ultimate purpose is to glorify God's name in the midst of our circumstances and that changed her perspective significantly. In many ways, in addition to Ensay's health God's healing for our family appeared in other ways such as healing of our souls from the discouragements and fear to hope and joy of glorifying God.
This week's reading of John 17:15 (NIV) -- My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. -- hints on the similar perspective where Jesus is not asking for His disciples to avoid the challenges of this world all together but for them to live through them under God's protection. He prayed for the faith to grow in the process because it does not grow by short-cutting to the "finish." In light of this passage, my PRAYER for Ensay and the rest of our family is to have our faith increased through this process and in the end, will glorify God's wonderful name.
